Arrival Date: June 2018

Priscilla and Snickers aren’t related but they are a bonded pair of best friends. They ended up homeless due to the lack of affordable pet friendly housing.

Snickers is very social and extroverted, Priscilla is sweet but timid and they make a perfect pair.
They lived happily with a baby until their people had to move. Both have been thoroughly checked out and had dental cleanings done at Alpine Animal Hospital so Priscilla and Snickers are ready to find their new home.

Oreo

oreo largeColour: Black and white
Breed: DSH
DOB: approx. 2006
Sex: Female/Spayed
Arrival Date: Feb. 8, 2018

Oreo’s had to come to us for help to find a new home due to her owner’s declining health. It’s been quite a shock for Oreo because she was only 5 weeks old when she was adopted. Oreo’s been to Alpine for oa full geriatric check up including blood work and a dental. She weighed in at 18 pounds but other than being a little plump she passed all her tests. (She’s definitely going to need reducing diet food.) Oreo doesn’t enjoy the company of other cats so will do best as a one and only. She’s got a strong personality and let’s you know if she’s not pleased but she really enjoys the company of humans.

Rondo

rondo largeColour: Black
Breed: DSH
DOB: approx. 2007
Sex: Male/Neutered
Arrival Date: April 2018

Rondo first got involved with RCHS in 2011 and after his visit to Alpine Animal Hospital he went back to his life as an outdoor cat with a friend to feed him. He had to come back to us in April 2018 when his friend had to move and couldn’t take Rondo with him. Rondo has quickly adjusted to the change of lifestyle and enjoys the security and comforts of life as an indoor cat. He is a happy go lucky fellow and is friendly with people and other cats. He would be very pleased to share a home with adult people and gentle cats but dogs and young children worry him. He had a full exam with geriatric blood panel and dental cleaning procedure and is ready for a new address.

Lucy

lucy largeColour: Black Torti
Breed: DSH
DOB: approx. 2008
Sex: Female/Spayed
Arrival Date: July 13/17

Lucy turned up at a feeding station off Canada Way in Burnaby a couple of years ago and soon became a regular visitor. She refused to be handled so had to be trapped and although she had already been spayed and tattooed the tattoo was not decipherable so no owners or previous history could be obtained.

Lucy is a small non-aggressive cat who responds positively to gentle petting and handling. She remains extremely timid and fearful and spends most of her days in seclusion perhaps as a consequence of trauma experienced during her time as a homeless cat.

Lucy needs a safe low-stress environment and a patient one on one relationship until she can feel safe again.

Ziggy (special needs)

ziggy largeColour: Tabby
Breed: DSH
DOB: August 2015
Sex: Spayed/Female
Arrival Date: July 2017

Ziggy is a beautiful cat with an angelic face. Unfortunately, she has had a bad start in life (not sure what happened to her) and as a result was surrendered to New West Animal Shelter because of aggressive behavior towards humans. In the year she spent at the shelter, she proved to be very disruptive and was fearful and aggressive towards other cats as well as volunteers. She was fostered in July and went to live in a household with three other cats. She has made good progress and no longer swats everybody -- her favourite activity is jumping in the bath (empty) and drinking out of the tap. At times she can be very sweet and affectionate with people but is still very fearful of any other cats. To continue her rehabilitation, we believe Ziggy needs to be in a household with no other pets. Given the right circumstances with lots of patience and love, we are confident she could blossom into a wonderful pet. We’re now looking for a permanent foster home for Ziggy. Cats placed in foster care by the society are eligible for financial assistance to cover veterinary bills as well as litter and food, as necessary.

Little Boy

Colour: Black and white
Breed: DSH
DOB: approx. 2002
Sex: Male/Neutered
Arrival Date: Jan. 24, 2018

littleboy largeLittle Boy spent all his life with the woman who rescued him as a homeless kitten. They lived happily together until last fall when Little Boy’s friend became very ill and went into hospital. He waited sadly for her return so he could once again cuddle up with her on the bed and feel warm and safe but sometimes life is sad for cats and for people. When it became apparent that Little Boy’s person would never be able to come home he came to our shelter. He’s a gentle cat and would so much like to have a quiet home and a special friend to love .

Arrival Date: November 23/16

Finnegan is a handsome five year old tuxedo fellow. He arrived as a compassionate boarder but after ten long months his humans are still homeless so Finnegan needs a new home. He's an extrovert of the cat world and craves attention and people to interact with but he's not totally comfortable with other cats. Finnegan's had his checkup, vaccines and blood tests and a dental and now all he needs to make his life complete is a new home and people that he can call his own and the happily ever after is right around the corner.
